My Inspiration

“I‘ve been around long enough to say that growing up I never missed an episode of The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.”

Although I am a product of the Cousteau-influenced generation, my parents were the other half of the equation. My father, a meteorologist and editor with Field and Stream Magazine for 28 years, began his diving and fishing days while serving as a Naval Lieutenant Commander in the Navy in Hawaii. My mom, adventurous with a passion for sailing, is also a true artist. With their influence and encouragement to follow my passion, I would say they have left a lasting impression on me.

As a rule, I never stop learning. There is little that does not grab my attention, above or below the surface. Because of this, my endeavors have led me down multiple paths, from becoming a student in the technical field of cave diving and rebreather diving to publishing. My work with researchers and explorers such as Samuel Gruber, Chris and Felicia Koenig and Todd Gedamke, to name of few, have forever changed my perception, attitude and outlook.
